Résumé

Industrial design has been present in Quebec since the end of World War II and has constantly evolved and adapted to changing industrial and economic conditions. Almost each decade has brought significant changes of conditions for the practice of industrial design. Recent changes brought about by globalization and the new economy are clearly redefining not only the type of products that designers create but also the way in which they carry on with their trade. Selected examples of Quebec designers’ work illustrate these significant changes and the adaptability and flexibility of this profession.
